Ruby Class

Ruby Class is a specialist learning environment for children in Key Stage 1 and 2 of school. We are a mixed-age group of Years 3–5, supported and led by Miss Smith and Mr Marsh. We are also fortunate to have four teaching assistants who contribute to teaching, learning, and support within the classroom.

In Ruby Class, we use a range of learning approaches. These include short whole-class lessons for core and wider subjects, as well as focused learning sessions where children work towards their individual targets using the TEACCH approach.

We aim to give every child the opportunity to engage, progress and achieve their personal potential by offering a variety of learning experiences, resources and social interactions. Learning extends beyond the classroom too, with termly visits into the local community, annual swimming sessions, and Forest School experiences throughout the academic year.

Each child is assigned a key worker, and these are rotated during the year to help build resilience and support children in developing co-regulation skills with a range of staff members.

Our Forest School, PE and Out and About sessions may vary each term depending on the whole-school timetable, so please refer to our current timetable for the most up-to-date information.

Parents and carers are welcome to speak with class staff during drop-off and pick-up times, or to contact us via Class Dojo. Staff will regularly update families with information about children’s daily learning and any important messages.
