Post 16

Post 16 is made up of 13 young people from years 12, 13 and 14. The curriculum is focused on functional skills and Preparing for Adulthood. Students have both a written and visual timetable on display to support them with preparing for their days, changes and transitions. Students access a broad curriculum; experiencing outdoor and indoor learning with time included to focus on emotional wellbeing and personal development.

We are dedicated to promoting a safe and positive learning environment for our young people. The care and wellbeing of the young people is crucial to our everyday practice and we work as a team to support each individual and their family.

The young people are split into two groups to ensure everyone gets the appropriate level of support to complete the different aspects of the curriculum. All of the young people will complete Ascentis courses in Maths, English and Independent Living (consisting of Independent skills, Independence in the community, PSHE and cooking). Each of these will be completed at either Entry Level 1, 2, 3 or Level 1.

The cohort is split into 2 groups to meet the needs of the students and challenge them appropriately.

Group 1:

Group 1 is led by a teacher and 1 support staff. The students have support with their Communication and Social Emotional needs alongside their functional learning.
