Welcome to Badger Class!

We are Primary Pathway 3, a mixed year group class, consisting of pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 with 12 students and 4 members of staff.

We learn through a mix of whole class teaching, small group and 1:1 work.

Every week we do a range of different lessons and activities. We have a high focus on speaking and listening, reading, writing and math, both as discrete subjects and across other curriculum areas. We also do lessons such as Science, Art, Independence skills, Music, Computers, PE and The World Around Us.

Some half terms we take part in cooking lessons, Forest Schools and Dance – which are lots of fun. New this year will be swimming.

We have focus activity time where we practice skills such as fine and gross motor, listening and attention and personal targets such as name writing or language skills.

Speaking and Listening, fine motor skills and sensory activities run through all areas of our curriculum. We also play lots of group games during our week. These really help us to follow instructions and practice our turn taking and listening skills and learn how to manage our emotions. We have sensory and movement breaks throughout the day to re-focus our bodies and minds.

We take part in the Interoception and Zones of Regulation Curriculums where we learn about how our body feels on the outside and on the inside.

Lots of our lessons are practical and we try to make them as engaging and fun as we can, but we are also learning to record our work in a more formal way in our books.

Ms. Barker is our teacher.

Mrs. Mackay, Mrs. Meese and Mr Bloomer are our Teaching Assistants - Mr Smith is working with us at the moment too.
