Welcome to Silver Class!
We are a Year 2/3 class with eight students and four members of staff. We learn through a thematic curriculum and this year we will be covering exciting topics such as, Colours of the World, Animal Magic and Passports Please!
We have a lovely big classroom in which we can learn, grow and play, and we do so by a mix of whole class teaching, 1:1 work, small group work, and sometimes we use workstations to help us learn. We tend to focus on Phonics, Guided reading, Literacy and Numeracy in the morning, and in the afternoons we do subjects such as Science, History, Geography, Art, ICT and Food Technology. To express ourselves, we do lots of planned Art, Sensory, Music and Role Play activities. This year we are going to learn how to play the recorder!
We also enjoy playing lots of group games during our week. These really help us to follow instructions, and practice our turn taking and listening skills. We have regular ‘movement breaks’ in between lessons where we get to have a quick dance and a ‘boogie’ to re-energise our bodies and minds.
We have PE on Thursday afternoons and to develop our gross motor skills even more, we are also going to start a new programme this year, called Write Dance, which we are very excited about. We will also have a weekly fine motor session to support our writing and pencil control.
Our class teacher is Miss Snow. Teaching Assistants are Mrs Palmer, Mrs Betts (Monday-Wednesday), Mrs Mackay and Mrs Proctor (Thursday/Friday).
