At Halesbury, all staff have an important role to play in supporting our young people to improve their understanding of the world of work, identify positive next steps and develop an aspirational outlook. However, there are also several specific staff who have significant input into the Careers and Preparing for Adulthood programme.

 

Natasha Harris - Careers Lead and Guidance Officer

Our Careers Lead at Halesbury School is Natasha Harris. She has worked at Halesbury School for over 10 years and has always worked closely with Year 11 in supporting them with their transitions to their next destination. In addition, Natasha has been responsible for organising, monitoring and developing the work experience programme, which can now be done onsite, offsite or virtually. Natasha has recently completed a Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development and she is a registered member of the Career Development Institute, which demonstrates a commitment to ethical practice and impartiality.

Natasha also works closely with our Connexions Adviser to ensure that our students gain the advice, information, and guidance that they are entitled to from the Connexions service.

When delivering guidance to our young people, Natasha makes use of a range of differentiated resources in order to support young people to think about their career goals and the steps they need to take to achieve them. She will work with pupils to explore their career ideas and the different routes and options open to them. She is also able to support students with making applications, writing a CV, interview preparation or whatever support pupils may need in their transition from Halesbury. She can also introduce pupils to other services that may help support the transition into adulthood.

Niki Byrne - Deputy Headteacher and SLT Link for Careers

Mrs Byrne is the SLT Link for Careers and oversees the work of our Careers Lead. As part of her role as Assistant Headteacher, she works closely with Mrs Harris to develop links with providers, develop an inclusive and progressive careers programme and implement change into the curriculum.

 

Hilary Bills - Governor Link for Careers

Hilary Bills is the linked governor for careers. As a member of Halesbury’s governing body, she has responsibility for supporting the school’s vision, ethos, and strategic direction. In terms of our careers provision, she will have an overview of our programme and be involved in the ongoing evaluation, development and improvement of our Careers and Preparing for Adulthood offer.

 

Nathan Hutchinson - Enterprise Co-ordinator

Nathan is an Enterprise Co-ordinator, working within the local authority of Dudley. Nathan has a wealth of knowledge relating to supporting young people with career-related decisions and his main role is to support the development of our careers provision through auditing, delivering staff training and building relationships between schools and local businesses. Nathan will also be involved in the organisation and running of career-related events that our young people may attend.

 

Satpal Kajla and Andrea Morris - Connexions Advisors

Satpal and Andrea are our linked Connexions advisors. Their main role is to support young people and parents/carers with their decision-making and transition to their next setting. Connexions advisors will also meet with young people to provide advice and guidance before attending Year 11 and Year 14 EHCP reviews to contribute to future planning.
