  • Sapphire Class

Sapphire Class is a Key Stage 2 and 3 specialist learning environment with 8 pupils. The class teacher is Mrs Parker and there are 3 additional teaching assistants to support the class. We follow a structured routine and timetable, and our approach is carefully tailored to meet the physical, sensory and emotional needs of each individual child.

In the mornings, we focus on Phonics, Reading, Literacy and Numeracy with individualised targeted work. We come together for whole class activities and learning before focusing on individual target work using bespoke resources for each pupil. In the afternoons, we follow a thematic curriculum including, Science, Art, History, Geography, Food Technology, ICT, RE, PE, PSHE and Music.

In addition to the National Curriculum, we support our pupils to achieve their speech and language targets, SCERTS targets, and EHCP targets. We also work towards independence in personal care routines and life skills, social skills, and gross and fine motor skills.

    Useful Information:

    • We have Dance and PE on Thursdays, so children can come to school in a t-shirt/polo shirt with jogging bottoms and trainers.
    • We currently go to Forest School on Fridays, so children can come to school wearing old/comfortable clothes suitable for outdoors. We ask that each child has a pair of wellies and a waterproof coat, with an additional change of clothes to change into afterwards.
    • Please keep a look out for updates on our class Dojo page as we often post daily updates and information.
