20th September 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome back from me and Halesbury. We are now three weeks into our new academic year, and this week our youngest pupils will start full time. Our pupils have settled in very well after a long holiday and I imagine that all of you are happy the school year has started again.

The Government and the Authority are making attendance a main priority after the last couple of years of COVID restrictions and the impact it had on schools. I have always supported parents who need time out of school because of the needs our pupils and their difficulties with the busy holiday seasons. However, I do ask that parents firstly try to keep this to a minimum, and that a letter is sent to the school to notify myself of the dates, detail the reasons why they are taking children out of school, and also to endeavour to support with regular attendance at all other times. Unfortunately any holidays taken in term time will always have to be marked as unauthorised on the register. If your child is ill, please always call the office to notify us of the reasons, as it enables the school to accurately report attendance. I thank you in advance for your support in this.

Christmas will be upon us before we know it. In order to give you as much advance notice as possible, the dates for the Christmas performances are as follows:

Primary classes and bases – morning performances on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th December

Secondary classes and bases – afternoon performances on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th December

More information will be given in due course.

Other dates for your diary are:

Friday 30th September - school will be closed for a staff training day.

Thursday 6th October - Our first Meet the Staff evening.

Parents/Carers will have an opportunity to meet and talk to their children’s staff team face to face in school. However if it is more convenient for you, then a TEAMS meeting can be arranged with the your child’s teacher.

You should now have the teacher’s email address for communication purposes. Please ask your child’s teacher if this is not the case. Can I remind all parents and carers that we have a zero tolerance policy of any kind of aggression towards staff.

Here at Halesbury, we have an open door policy, and if any Parents/Carers would like to speak to me about any issues I will always endeavour to make myself available.

I hope you all have a very happy term, and you enjoy all the work and activities your children will be involved in.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Kulyk

Head Teacher
