20th July 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
We come to the end of another academic year of challenges and hurdles. It is difficult to imagine that restrictions were lifted only as recently as February, however it seems a lifetime ago. Who also would have predicted the challenges of this week’s extreme heat? I feel that this will be a yearly challenge, and want to reassure you we have already put in place a plan to deal with this when it happens next year.
Regardless of all of the challenges we faced, the pupils still had many wonderful experiences in and out of school with many more experiences lined up for next year to support our new curriculum which is focused on life skills and communication.
I would like to thank all parents, carers, families and friends of Halesbury for their continued support and involvement with the school. It was wonderful to see all of you at our first whole school occasion when we celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee. Whilst the queue to get into school extended past the doctor’s surgery and down towards the bottom of Long Lane, it was a pleasure to see so many of you joining with us to celebrate. We hope to organise more events next year.
It is with regret that I announce the retirement of Pam Stevenson, our Chair of Governors, after 17 years of supporting the school. We would like to express our thanks and gratitude for all her hard work and dedication, and I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the best for the future, and a hugely deserved rest.
I leave you with all our training dates which will help you in your childcare arrangements for next year.
