On the morning of Wednesday 11th January, we were delighted to welcome into school Loudmouth Theatre Education Company. Loudmouth delivered the PSHE performance “Safe and Sound” to our Key Stage 3 and 4 students, which focused on keeping safe in teenage relationships. The aim of “Safe and Sound” is to make young people aware of the characteristics of positive and healthy relationships, and to help pupils recognise that some types of behaviour within relationships are criminal, including violent behaviour and coercive control.
Following the performance pupils participated in two small group workshops, where they were able to explore and discuss issues relating to what they had seen. The workshop provided an opportunity for pupils to think about relationships, as well as raising their awareness of power and control and how to keep themselves safe against abusive relationships.
Feedback from the students after the event indicated that the session had been extremely well received and had given the pupils an opportunity to consolidate their PSHE learning.
